“We had so much fun” says It’s a Hospice Knockout participant

October 2, 2018
Lauren Easterbrook

An It’s A Hospice Knockout participant who works at the hospice says she and her team had ‘so much fun’ at the recent fundraising event.

Reception supervisor Amanda Cook (pictured right) played the role of team captain for the Snow White and the Nine Dwarfs along with hospice staff members Ros Seymour, Michelle Burton, Lucy Williams, Gemma Turner, Sarah Carter, Alison Bailey, Sue Phillips and her sister Gill Wilkinson.

Prior to the event, Amanda led a two-day cake sale at the hospice, raising £182 to add to the team’s final fundraising efforts.

Amanda said: “We had so much fun clambering up and over obstacles, working together to complete some ludicrous activities and coming together with the other nine teams to take part in a magnificent event.

“I wanted to take part primarily to raise lots of money for the hospice but also to have fun with my colleagues. I see on a regular basis the fantastic care that is given here and my main motivation to take part was to do what I could to support our clinical team. Thankfully many other colleagues across the charity agreed with me. We can’t wait to take part in the next one.”

The hospice receives just 20% of its funding from the NHS, meaning more than £3.3million per year needs to be raised through retail, donations and fundraising events.

If you would like to help raise money for Weston Hospicecare, we are currently looking for 12 couples to take part in Strictly Fun Dancing 2019 and we always encourage people to take part in their own challenge events.

For further details about how we can support your own fundraising event, call 01934 423900 and ask for the fundraising team.
