London – Edinburgh – London, in under 125 hours?!
Could you cycle from London, to Edinburgh and back to London again in less than a week? Earlier this month, we met up with Jason who is doing just that in aid of Weston Hospicecare.
On Sunday, 3rd August, Jason will be cycling a total of 957 miles in under 125 hours with his friend Joss, in a true test of both mental and physical resilience.
Like many of us, Weston Hospicecare holds a special place in Jason’s heart, as his dearest friend Marcus was cared for by the Hospice in his final days. Jason explained: “Weston Hospicecare provided so much to me personally in terms of family over the many years, but also recently to a great friend, Marcus Brown who I became friends with at the age of five in primary school, right up to his sad passing last year.
“Marcus and his family had such great care from yourselves recently with his process of going through his cancer. Even after Marcus’ passing, his family feels supported. The care that you provided has been amazing, it’s clear that the Hospice isn’t just there from day one, it’s there for the future too.”
Jason is no stranger to fundraising, having taken on some incredible challenges such as Mont Blanc Summit, 7 Marathons in 7 days, Race Across Europe, London to Paris Sub24 and finally, Weston Hospicecare’s very own Mendip Challenge, but Jason admits, this will be his toughest challenge yet.
With around 20% of Weston Hospicecare’s funding coming from the Government, we rely on the generosity of people just like Jason and Joss to keep vital services freely available to local people who need them. To find out more about their challenge and to donate, please click here.
