Christmas-themed gifts now on sale in aid of Weston Hospicecare

November 8, 2018
Lauren Easterbrook

Weston Hospicecare is now selling mini Christmas stockings and Christmas trees at Jackson-Barstow House to raise money.

The hospice has called, and is calling, upon knitting and crochet enthusiasts in the community to help make themed gifts to sell.

Those still wishing to get involved by creating these perfect stocking fillers are kindly asked to provide their creations to the hospice by 23 November.

Hospice community fundraiser Rachel Mansfield said: “We have received tremendous support with the creation of gifts for the project so far.

“We have set instructions for people to follow and they can be downloaded from the Weston Hospicecare News Facebook page or people can contact me directly by emailing rachel.mansfield@westonhospicecare.org.uk.

“It is fantastic to see people helping us with this project and in turn supporting a charity which is so important to the local community.”

While the hospice does have instructions for people to follow, other Christmas-themed creations would be welcomed.

The hospice’s Andrea Potts said: “Every Christmas and Easter we sell themed goods to fundraise for the hospice.

“It provides an easy opportunity for those who love knitting to support the hospice from the comfort of their own home or with a group of friends.

“Each time we are very well supported with the project which provides a win-win scenario for everybody.”

The gifts, which are filled with varieties of chocolates and sweets, are now on sale at the hospice’s Jackson-Barstow House in Uphill with prices ranging from £1.50 to £3.

A similar project will take place in spring 2019 when knitted chicks will be on sale to celebrate Easter.
