On the Road Again: Take to the Highways (of Weston) as a Volunteer Van Driver

March 15, 2018
Lauren Easterbrook

Our happy Hub is in need of volunteer van drivers, and you could be the perfect fit!

Based on the Oldmixon trading estate in Weston-super-Mare, our Hub is the central location where all our donated goods are sorted. Customers take their donations into one of our many stores in Weston, Clevedon, Burnham or the surrounding area, and our fantastic team of drivers take the donations to the hub where they’re sorted before being distributed back to the shops.

Our existing team of volunteer drivers are incredible, but because the public are so generous with their donations, we’re in need of more drivers to pick everything up, including furniture. If you’re over 21, with a clean driving licence, able to drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle with tailgate, and able to spare 4 hours a week or more, we’d love to hear from you!

The hub is a fantastic working environment; the team are happy, friendly, and always laughing. Volunteering on one of our vans is a great way to meet lots of new people, since you’ll also be out and about visiting other stores and customers. Our ideal candidate needs to be a careful and considerate driver, with good customer service skills. They’ll also be reliable and flexible, and you should also be aware that the role will involve lots of lifting, bending, and carrying. Think of how fit you’ll get!

Full training will be given for this role, so if you’d like to get involved with life at Weston Hospicecare by giving something back to the local community, give us a call on 01934 423975, or take a look at our volunteering page for information.
