May 13, 2020
Lauren Easterbrook

Teammates from Uphill Castle Reserves FC have virtually teamed up to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

Between them, they will run 1,500 miles in four weeks. With 19 of them taking part, the plan is 15 will run 18 miles per week.

Adam Filer, who plays for the team, says: “We’re trying to raise £1,500 for Weston Hospicecare by running 1,500 miles in four weeks.

“We are a great club and want to try and help as much as we can.

“The local hospice (Weston Hospicecare) is a great charity and do incredible work for people who really need it.

“We all know people that have counted on this hospice or will do in the future.”

It’s also giving the footballers a chance to maintain fitness while football is postponed due to the pandemic.

Adam continues: “We’re also doing this to help the players who are struggling indoors to keep on top of fitness and stay mentally well.”
