National Guardian - Freedom to speak up

Local manufacturing company to host open gardens in Weston this weekend

June 27, 2018
Lauren Easterbrook

Clifton Food Range will be opening its picturesque gardens in aid of Weston Hospicecare next week on Sunday 8 July.

The company is part of the Nickel Electro Ltd group in Oldmixon Crescent, and is offering a rare chance to explore its gorgeous garden.

The event will run between 12-4pm and there will be a raffle with the prizes such as days out in Somerset and Devon, cookery courses, exclusive vouchers from Thatchers and Bombay Sapphire, Exeter Chiefs rugby tickets, spa treatments from Beauty Oasis and some Emma Bridgewater crockery from Idesign Interiors to be won.

The hospice’s director of fundraising and communications Alison Sopp said: “We are extremely grateful to Nickel Electro Ltd for putting on this open gardens event to support Weston Hospicecare.

“We rely on the community to help support our continued mission to provide the best care we can to those with life-limiting illnesses in the area.

“Events like this not only help raise funds for our clinical team at the charity but it also provides an opportunity to interact with members of our community.

“We can’t wait to see the garden and we are all very much looking forward to 8 July.”

The company is hoping to raise substantial funds for Weston Hospicecare and in addition to the raffle will be having a plant sale and a book sale, as well as offering tea, coffee and homemade cakes.

There will also be 24-hour-cooked pulled pork rolls on offer, as well as the stunning garden, complete with an orchard, vegetable garden, ponds and beehives to view.

Clifton Food Range’s managing director Melvin Dickson said: “This is the first public event we have hosted on our premises and I am very much looking forward to welcoming the public to our garden and supporting Weston Hospicecare in this way.

“They are a wonderful charity who has touched many lives of people in our community.”

The company, which prides itself on being an independent British manufacturer of laboratory and catering equipment, was formed in 1941 and is now established within the community surrounding Weston.

Visitors are invited to see the Clifton Food Range garden on Sunday 8 July between 12-4pm on the Oldmixon Trading Estate (BS24 9BL).
