National Guardian - Freedom to speak up

Hospice charity shops to become donation stations from 9 June

June 4, 2020
Lauren Easterbrook

Weston Hospicecare will start to reopen some of their shop sites as donation stations.

The hospice closed all of their shops before a UK-wide lockdown came into force on 24 March in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The shops will be opened by staff members, in tandem, on a three-week rolling rota.

The hospice has shops in Weston-super-Mare, Worle, Clevedon, Burnham, Cheddar, Winscombe, Congresbury and Yatton and will reopen a number of them to become donation stations.

The full list of the intended openings are:

  • 9 June – Baker Street Shop
  • 10 June – Devonshire Road Shop
  • 11 June – Milton Road Shop
  • 12 June – Burnham Seafront Shop
  • 13 June – Clevedon Triangle Shop (Moved from the Hill Road store)
  • 15 June – Baker Street Shop
  • 16 June – Cheddar Shop
  • 17 June – Milton Road Shop
  • 18 June – Worle Home Shop
  • 19 June – Yatton Shop
  • 22 June – Winscombe Shop
  • 23 June – Baker Street Shop
  • 24 June – Milton Road Shop
  • 25 June – Burnham Seafront Shop
  • 26 June – Cheddar Shop

The hospice has been encouraging supporters to sort, save and pledge donations in anticipation for this scenario.

The retail team is now encouraging donations to be made at the shops on the specified dates and at the specified locations.

Each donation station will be open from 10.30am – 15.30pm.

This list is subject to change, supporters are urged to tune in to the hospice’s social media pages for the very latest updates.

The hospice is opening the shops which can safely accommodate staff and members of the public in line with the current coronavirus guidelines.

No date is available in relation for when Weston Hospicecare shops will reopen for trading.
