DESCRIPTION:What is it?\nOpen Gardens is a community fundraising initiative where supporters\, staff and volunteers open up their gardens for the public to view and raise money to support the hospice. \nThe initiative has been hosted in gardens across North Somerset and last year our incredible supporters raised £10\,462 for the hospice. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Wedmore 40/30 charity cycle event is set to take place on 30 August 2026\, with a range of routes for all cycling abilities.\nThis exciting cycling challenge sees bike enthusiasts take on a breathtaking 30\, 40 or 70 mile course across the spectacular Mendip Hills and Somerset levels. There is also a fun\, family-friendly 12 mile course. \nWeston Hospicecare is working in collaboration with a brilliant group of cycling enthusiast volunteers from Wedmore to bring this event to you and money raised through ticket sales will be split between Weston Hospicecare and St Mary’s Church. All funds raised through sponsorship and donations will go directly to supporting the care the hospice provides for free to those in North Somerset and Sedgemoor with life-limiting conditions. \nSign up hereRoute Options:\nThere is a range of route lengths you can choose from: \n12 Mile Route \n‘Family Fun Ride’: this shorter fun ride is ideal for a range of abilities; a short\, mainly flat route around the Somerset Levels. \n30 Mile Route \n‘Ride the Levels’: you will head south of Wedmore towards Glastonbury\, taking in views of the beautiful Somerset Levels. \n40 Mile Route \n‘The Hill Climber’: ride up the iconic Cheddar Gorge\, across the spectacular Mendip Hills and around Chew Valley Lake before venturing back over the Mendips to Wedmore. \n70 Mile Route \n‘The Full House’: first you will ride 40 miles across the Mendips and round Chew Valley Lake. Walk for Weston Hospicecare. \nSign Up Here!FAQs\nWhat is the minimum age to take part?The Moonlight Beach Walk is open to all ages. It is a late night event so please keep that in consideration. \nAnyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is participating. \nWhere does it take place?Registration and post-walk celebrations will be held at the Grand Pier. \nThe 10k walk will take you along the beach to Uphill\, returning along the promenade to Knightstone Island before making another loop to the Tropicana and finishing back at the Pier. \nThe 5k walk follows the same start taking you along the beach to the end of Beach Lawns\, following the Promenade back to Knightstone Island and then looping back to finish at the Pier. \nThe event takes place in the dark. How safe is it?Your safety is always of utmost importance to us\, which is why the Moonlight Beach Walk is a fully marshalled event. We encourage participants to take one of our head-torches on the course. \nIs there a sponsorship requirement?The entry fee only covers the cost of organising the event. We ask you to raise as much money as possible to support the work of Weston Hospicecare. \nIt is your sponsorship and fundraising efforts that go to the hospice\, helping us care for local people and their families affected by life-limiting illnesses. You can fundraise both online and offline\, with our sponsorship form attached to your confirmation email or by creating an online Fundraising page. \nIs this a female-only event?This event aims to be a safe space for women and girls to come together and walk in night setting\, however this is a fully inclusive event and everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity. \nWhat should I wear?You will receive a Moonlight Beach Walk T-shirt as part of your registration fee\, but don’t forget that it may be cold\, so wear plenty of layers and good walking shoes. \nWe will also be selling some fun glow up merchandise before the walk starts to help you light up your way along the beach. \nWhere can I park?There is parking available along Marine Parade. Car Park entry accessible until 10pm (exit accessible at all times) \nWhat facilities are available?Toilets are available at Event HQ at the start and finish. \nThere will be no bag storage available at the event\, so please only bring with you what you need for the walk. \nRegarding wheelchair access – there is a ramped road that gives access onto the beach. However\, the route is mainly on sand\, and not all wheelchairs will be suitable. Please check with your manufacturer. Participants can however complete the walk by using the promenade instead. \nHow else can I get involved?If you’d like to support the event but don’t wish to take part in the walk\, we need many volunteers for the Moonlight Beach Walk\, so you are welcome to be a part of the event by volunteering. DESCRIPTION:APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR STRICTLY FUN DANCING 2027\nAPPLICATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER\nWeston Hospicecare are looking for 8 couples to sign up for 10 weeks of dance training in our seventh Strictly Fun Dancing for Weston Hospicecare fundraiser. You will be trained in two styles of dance\, the Waltz and the Salsa\, both of which you will perform at the Grand Finale. \nTraining will take place weekly in a two-hour lesson on Saturday mornings between 10am-12noon starting on Saturday 9th January at Kewstoke Village Hall. The Grand Finale will be at the Winter Gardens Ballroom on Saturday 20th March. \nThe couples who secure their place are required to pay a £100 entry fee (that’s just £10 per couple each training session!) and are encouraged to raise a minimum of £500 (excluding Gift Aid) in sponsorship as part of this fundraiser. Couples will be performing in the Grand Finale in front of an audience of around 300 people and will be reserved three tables per couple to sell to friends and family for the Grand Finale for support on the night. \nIf you would like to be considered as one of our couples for Strictly Fun Dancing 2027\, please complete the below application form and return to us by Friday 16th October 2027.
