Pines For Pounds

January 10

Pines for Pounds registrations are now closed. Thank you to everyone who has registered a tree for collection.

You donate and we collect! In return for a donation, we’ll collect your tree and take it away – saving you the mess in the car, and the queue at the tip. Our annual Christmas Tree collection and recycling service helps raise vital funds for Weston Hospicecare, with last year around almost 950 trees being collected and raising the charity over £17,000.

This year’s tree collection service is sponsored by Howards Motor Group, who together with  Weston Rotary, Mendip Rotary, Wrington Vale Rotary, Weston-super-Mare Lions and Weston and Banwell Young Farmers, together with local businesses including Enterprise, Medequip, PDCL, and Weston Support Services, will be collecting your trees this January.

Tree collections will take place on Saturday 10 January 2026, with collections covering a number of postcodes across North Somerset within Weston Hospicecare’s service area. (Please see below for the full list of tree collection postcodes.)

To book a tree collection, please read through the following FAQs to make sure your tree can definitely be collected successfully on the day, and complete the form further down on this page.

  • BS22 (Bourton, St Georges, Wick St Lawrence, Icelton, Ebdon, Kewstoke, Norton, Sand Bay)

Please note – postcodes apply to where the tree will be collected from, not the postcode of the person registering tree collection.

Why is my postcode not on the collection list?

Pines for pounds is supported by volunteers meaning that we are limited by number of trees we can collect, and are therefore unable to collect from all postcodes within our service area.

What do I need to do on the day?

All Christmas Trees must be ready by 8am on the day of collection (Saturday 10 January) and must be visible from the main road (ie at the end of your driveway). Trees not visible risk not being collected. Please note that tree collectors are not permitted to enter private property.

How tall can my tree be?

We ask that you tree is no bigger that 7ft due to size of our collection vehicles. Any trees larger than this will need to be cut by yourself prior to collection as our volunteers are not permitted to cut tree on collection. We politely ask for an additional donation for large trees.

How many trees can I leave out?

We ask you to request no more than 3 trees per household, and register each tree that you would like collected. We suggest a donation of £12-£15 per tree.

What happens if I do not want to leave a donation?

We can collect your tree free of charge, but you will need to write to the following address to request your tree collection. We will then send you a form to complete, which must be returned by no later than 28 December 2025. Please know that a donation would mean the world to our patients.

What if my tree has been missed from the collection?

If your tree has not been collected by 4pm Saturday 10th January, please email nicola.slark@westonhospicecare.org.uk so we can arrange for your tree to be picked up another time. The deadline for notifying us of a missed tree collection will be midday on Wednesday 14th January. If we are unable to attend to collect your tree, a full refund will be offered.

What is the cut-off for booking a tree collection?

Bookings close at midnight on Tuesday 6 January 2026.

How can I help the hospice by my tree being collected?

Your donation can make a difference for our patients and their families.

  • £20 could help fund an hour of our nurse’s time with a patient.
  • £40 could cover the cost of a patient’s food in our In-Patient Unit for 24 hours.
  • £100 could help cover the cost of a nurse delivering end-of-life care to a patient and their loved ones.
What happens to my tree once it has been collected?

Your tree will be taken to a local recycling centre where it will be shredded and used for conservation projects.

Thank you to all our the businesses and organisations involved for your supporting in making Pines For Pounds a success.
