“St Paul’s looks beautiful, lit up with all the dedication lanterns for Light Up A Life. This very special evening of carols and remembrance offers families a unique way to remember the life of a loved one and to join with hundreds of others who want to share a special message for someone they love. Christmas can be a very difficult time for those who are bereaved, but Light Up A Life helps them keep the person close at this special time of year.”

– Karen Murphy, Chaplain at Weston Hospicecare

Christmas is a hard time for those missing a loved one. Their absence will be keenly felt, whether the death was recent or several years ago. Taking part in our annual Light Up A Life appeal is a very special way to remember the life of someone close to you at Christmas whilst helping to provide care for another family facing the most difficult of times.

The Light Up A Life appeal will run throughout December 2018. Further information about the appeal, the Light A Lantern evening, and how you can get involved or donate will be published here in due course.

Lanterns on display, St Paul's Church
  • Light a lantern for your loved one
On Monday 10th December, we will hold our Light Up A Life evening of carols and remembrance at St Paul’s Church in Walliscote Road in Weston. At its heart is a moving remembrance ceremony, where we share moments of reflection in the company of other local families who have been through a similar experience. Music and readings create a quiet time in the light of an array of coloured lanterns, each one representing a loved and much-missed special person.

During the service, our chaplain, nurses and volunteers will read out the names of those who have died. Relatives and friends are warmly welcome to come forward and light a candle as the name of their loved one is read out.

Book of Remembrance, our chapel
  • Write a dedication in the Book of Remembrance
A special Light Up A Life Book of Remembrance, which will carry personal dedications from friends and relatives, will be displayed in the hospice chapel.

St Paul's Church
  • Make a donation to help us be there for our patients and families this Christmas
We believe passionately that hospice care should be there, free of charge, for whoever needs us, whenever they need us. In the darkest times, we offer compassion and companionship. We welcome donations to the Light Up A Life appeal so we can be there whenever another local family needs us.
