As volunteers, our Friends Groups organise their own events and activities, which are all supported by the hospice’s community fundraisers.
They arrange many successful events including coffee mornings, breakfasts, Christmas fayres, summer fetes, quiz nights, fashion shows and much more. They are always there to lend a helping hand and are vitally important to the hospice.
By joining a Friends Group, you can:
- be actively involved in your local community;
- make new friends and have fun;
- develop skills in fundraising and event organisation; and
- help make a difference to local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
We have several Friends groups across the area in Blagdon, Congresbury, Hutton, Kewstoke, Wrington, Worlebury, Wedmore and now Burnham-on-Sea. If you are interested in joining or starting a Friends Group, please contact the Fundraising Team on 01934 423926 or email us.
Chair of the Friends’ Groups Sue Barlow said, “We are always on the lookout for people to join these existing groups or to form new groups and committees in your area – perhaps you live in Yatton or Cheddar and would like to get one started. You don’t need any previous fundraising experience, just an enthusiasm to raise vital funds for the hospice. If you want to see what it’s all about, why not come along to our regular coffee mornings at the hospice on the second Friday of every month?”
Come join us at the Spring Fayre!
Next week on Saturday, 11th March, the Friends of Weston Hospicecare will be holding their Spring Fayre at the Boulevard United Reformed Church from 10 a.m. till noon to raise funds for the hospice. Please come along, as there will be refreshments available and a selection of stalls with some brilliant goods!
