Challenge yourself by completing three disciplines in one race, and enter a triathlon. Whether you are seeking to complete a shorter, pool-based triathlon or wanting to challenge yourself to a full Ironman, there’s a triathlon out there for everyone. Here are a few we recommend:
Titan Weston Middle Distance
Titan Weston Middle Distance Triathlon event is located on the promenade of Weston-super-Mare and is easily accessible from South Wales, Bristol, Birmingham, London and the South West by both car and train.
The 1.2 mile swim is a one-lap course and takes place in the clean sea waters, which have recently won an award from the Marine Conservation Society for excellent bathing water quality. The 60-mile bike course then takes you out of the town and towards Cheddar, where competitors will climb up through the gorge twice, meaning you’ll get to experience one of the most iconic cycling locations in the UK. The final 13.1 mile run is a three-lap out and back route along the promenade and beach.
Weston-super-Mare is the perfect location for this middle distance event, which is now in its second year. Weston Hospicecare is lucky enough to be charity partners with DBMax for this iconic event and holds …….. reserved places. If you would like to enter the Titan Weston on behalf of Weston Hospicecare, get in touch.
Portishead Sprint Triathlon
A great coastal location with a superb outdoor 33m pool venue means this event is continuing to create a buzz. The event starts with a 12 length, 400mtr swim in the fantastic open air lido, which is 33mtrs long and is 5 lanes wide, providing a different swimming experience.
After a short run to transition, which is situated on the famous Battery Point, the route takes you out on to the 25k bike course. Being in a coastal location, it is fair to say that the stunningly beautiful route is far from flat and has 3 significant climbs in it. Next, you’ll head out of Portishead, following the coastal road before heading in land to complete the first loop.
After completing the second lap, it is back in to transition and out on to the 5k run course. This route goes along the coastal path before looping back on itself back to finish on Battery Point.
There are many triathlon events running around the UK, from super-sprints right through to Ironman distance, so there is an event to suit everyone. For more information, email us or call 01934 423965.
Obstacle course races are fast becoming a popular trend amongst challengers and athletes alike. It would appear that there is no greater satisfaction than dragging yourself through fields of mud, cold lakes and over towering structures to become an OCR champion.
Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina and mental grit. With no podiums, winners or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.
