Complementary therapies work alongside conventional medical treatments. They do not aim to offer a cure, but they can be very helpful in supporting symptom control and enhancing your sense of well-being.
Our Wellbeing Centre, which opened its doors in June 2014, acts as a hub for complementary therapies for patients and their carers. However, therapies can also be accessed as part of our Day Hospice and in the In-Patient Unit, and our team can visit you in your own home (which could include your care home).
Available therapies include adapted massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, a variety of relaxation techniques, a range of beauty treatments and Indian head message. Our team will work with you to help you find the right therapy that will help you relax and feel restored.
While we provide care for a wide variety of illnesses, not just cancer, we do have a specific service for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. This service is called Time for You, and the sessions offer a chance for you to enjoy relaxation, support and companionship through complementary therapies.
If you’re interested in complementary therapies, please talk with your Hospice Community Nurse Specialist, staff in the Day Hospice or your In-Patient Unit nurse.
